Editorial and data methodology

Costy publishes original grocery guidance and reports designed to explain—not overstate—what its available data shows.

Receipt observations

Costy reports may use aggregated observations from receipts voluntarily submitted to the product. Before publication, receipt fields and article calculations are reviewed for obvious extraction errors, impossible values, duplicate records, and mismatched comparisons.

Early datasets can be small and may not represent every shopper, location, product mix, or retailer. Basket composition, package size, brand, quantity, taxes, discounts, and geography can affect comparisons. Articles disclose these limitations and avoid presenting a sample as a measurement of the entire grocery market.

Editorial review

The Costy Team manually reviews each published article for clarity, relevance, internal consistency, and alignment between the available evidence and the conclusions. Automated tools may assist drafting or analysis, but publication requires human review. We do not publish unreviewed automatically generated pages.

External facts and corrections

When an article relies on external statistics or safety guidance, we prefer primary sources such as government agencies and link them where useful. Material corrections are incorporated into the article and reflected in its updated date.

Advertising independence

Advertising does not determine Costy’s findings or retailer comparisons. Ads are limited to substantial public articles and are not placed on login, account, navigation, error, or private application screens.
